The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a regional commission promoting inclusive and sustainable development. This internship is within the Office of the Executive Secretary, supporting the Secretary of the Commission and the Deputy Secretary. Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide valuable experience in intergovernmental affairs and sustainable development within the Asia-Pacific region. The intern will support the Office of the Executive Secretary at ESCAP, gaining practical exposure to the organization's operations, including preparing for and assisting with annual commission sessions and related meetings. The role contributes to ESCAP's mandate of fostering cooperation among member states to address development challenges and implement the 2030 Agenda. Interns will develop a deeper understanding of ESCAP's activities and its role as a key platform for regional dialogue and action, enhancing their professional skills in a dynamic international environment.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and delivery of annual commission sessions and related intergovernmental meetings, including logistical support, registration, and presentation assistance. Prepare procedural scripts, talking points, and briefing materials. Attend meetings and take detailed notes. Support the creation and updating of website content, communication materials, and public information initiatives. Contribute to strategic communications and digital outreach efforts. Provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to the team, including managing correspondence and preparing for internal stakeholder meetings. Assist with issue management processes and other ad-hoc duties as assigned, contributing to the smooth functioning of the office.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must meet the specified educational criteria. Previous internship experience with the UN, if any, should be detailed. Familiarity with relevant IT skills is beneficial.
