TRANSPORT ASSISTANT
Organizational Context
This position is within the Transport Section of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) located at UNDOF Bravo Side/Camp Faouar. The role reports to the Transport Officer, contributing to the operational efficiency of the transport unit within the mission.
Job Purpose
The Transport Assistant, reporting to the Transport Officer, is responsible for managing expendable items within the Transport Section. This includes the acquisition, receipt, and usage of spare parts and lubricants for vehicle repair and maintenance. The role involves preparing requisitions, coordinating with supply chain management, and ensuring accurate inventory updates in UMOJA. Additionally, the assistant manages driving permits, monitors vehicle systems, handles discrepancy reports, and maintains comprehensive records of all transactions. The position also supports budget and audit reporting, processes requests, and may involve driving UN vehicles and assisting with attendance monitoring and mileage recording.
Responsibilities
Manage expendable items, including spare parts and lubricants, for the Transport Section's workshops. Prepare requisitions for expendable items and POL products for resupply of stores supporting vehicle repair and maintenance. Compile lists of expendables for ordering and follow up on deliveries with supply chain units. Coordinate with the R&I unit for receiving and inspecting goods. Codify items and ensure accurate electronic receipt into the inventory system. Maintain UMOJA inventory records for expendables. Create, record, and monitor driving permits, including expiry dates. Oversee CARLOG downloading stations and vehicle units. Generate discrepancy and defect reports for non-compliant assets. Determine and review minimum-maximum levels for spare parts and alert supervisors to shortages. Serve as the focal point for budget and audit reports. Process I-Need requests and ensure accurate recording of consumed expendables in UMOJA via the work order system. Conduct physical verification checks and maintain transaction records. Generate inventory, correspondence, and status reports. Prepare cost estimates for repairs and complete damage discrepancy reports. Drive UN vehicles as needed and assist with attendance monitoring and mileage recording. Prepare transport-related documents for signature.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in transport operations management is required. This requirement is reduced to three years for candidates holding a first-level university degree or higher.
