Job Purpose

The role also supports database maintenance for tracking implementation progress and ensures adherence to UNVMC policies and a gender-sensitive approach, ultimately contributing to the successful reintegration strategies.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Liaison Officer is responsible for analyzing communications and publications from various sources, maintaining current knowledge on reintegration issues, particularly social and economic aspects for former FARC-EP combatants. This includes assisting senior officers with drafting documents, preparing summaries, and monitoring relevant political and socio-economic developments. The role involves participating in fact-finding missions, providing feedback to regional offices, and contributing to verification and advocacy efforts. Additionally, the officer supports the maintenance of databases tracking reintegration plan progress, ensures compliance with UNVMC policies and ethical standards, and integrates a gender-sensitive approach into all functions.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, or conflict resolution is required. Candidates with an advanced university degree may not need prior work experience. Experience in Latin America, supporting the Colombia peace process, or in project management/private sector engagement is desirable.
