Organizational Context

The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) within the UN Secretariat is leading digital transformation initiatives. This role is part of the Enterprise Solutions Service (OICT/ESS), hosted by the UN Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre in Deqing, China, focusing on developing and supporting enterprise solutions.

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for the design, development, programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new applications using SharePoint Online and the Power Platform. The position involves contributing technical expertise to solution design, preparing comprehensive technical and user documentation, and conducting training. The role also includes providing third-level application support, managing versions, troubleshooting issues, and staying updated with technological advancements to propose new tools and libraries, ultimately supporting the UN's digital transformation goals.

Responsibilities

Participate in the full lifecycle of application development, including programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of new applications on SharePoint Online and the Power Platform. Design and develop web applications, contributing technical expertise to requirements analysis and solution design. Prepare detailed technical and user documentation, training materials, and conduct technical presentations. Provide third-level application support, including version management and troubleshooting for deployed applications. Conduct ongoing reviews with users and developers, and respond to user requests. Stay current with industry developments, perform benchmarking, and propose new tools and libraries. Manage version control using systems like Git.

Work Experience

Requires 3+ years of hands-on experience building web applications with SharePoint Online, developing SPFX using JavaScript/TypeScript and React, and building apps with Power Platform and Microsoft 365. Also requires 2+ years of experience with PowerShell and Azure DevOps Pipelines. Experience with C#, AI, and GIS is desirable.
