Job Purpose
This Urban Planner role is designed to provide essential planning and design outputs for UN-Habitat's technical support initiatives in Mozambique. The purpose is to contribute to the development of well-planned, resilient cities and towns by supporting the Urban Lab's efforts. The incumbent will collaborate with the Urban Lab team and the Mozambique Country Office, reporting to the Programme Management Officer. The role directly supports the agency's mandate to promote socially and environmentally sustainable urban development, ensuring adequate housing, infrastructure, and access to basic services.
Responsibilities
The Urban Planner will be responsible for preparing comprehensive planning materials, including presentations, maps, and drawings, for workshops engaging city and county officials and technical staff in Mozambique. This includes the drafting, revision, and finalization of planning documents, encompassing spatial analysis, graphical representations, and written reports. The role may also involve participation in technical missions as required. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and collaborate closely with the Urban Lab team and the Mozambique Country Office, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of planning outputs.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of proven experience is required in drawing and preparing plan graphical material using computer-assisted design tools. This experience should include a strong focus on data management and processing, particularly with Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
