Organizational Context

The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Algiers, part of the Department of Global Communications, serves as the primary source of information about the UN in Algeria. It promotes understanding and support for UN activities by disseminating materials and engaging local partners, aiming to connect the UN with the people it serves.

Job Purpose

This internship at UNIC Algiers aims to support communication activities through the creation of visual content, graphic design assistance, and event coverage. The role contributes to enhancing the visibility of UN messages, campaigns, and initiatives within Algeria. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Officer-in-Charge, assisting in various communication tasks to bring the UN closer to the local population. This is a full-time, unpaid, in-person internship for a duration of three to six months, providing valuable experience in international communications and visual content production.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist in covering UN events, campaigns, and activities using photography and basic video techniques. Key duties include selecting, editing, and organizing visual content according to UN communication standards. The role involves creating infographics, social media visuals, and basic graphic materials, as well as assisting with the layout and design of communication products like presentations, flyers, and simple reports. Additionally, the intern will support the organization and updating of photo and visual archives and adapt visual content for digital platforms and social media, performing other communication-related tasks as needed.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship's focus. A demonstrated keen interest in the UN's work and the ability to interact effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds are essential. Basic knowledge of graphic design tools and digital communication is desirable.
