This Electrical Engineer role is within the Design and Construction Section at UNON, reporting to the Chief of the section for the Conference Facilities Project.
Job Purpose
The Project Engineer, Electrical is responsible for analyzing and advising on the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of major electrical engineering systems and facilities for the UNON Conference Facilities Project. This includes overseeing power substations, distribution networks, lighting, and building management systems (BMS). The role involves evaluating project documents, reviewing design specifications for accuracy and feasibility, and approving technical drawings and reports. The engineer will provide technical input on design issues, recommend solutions for complex engineering problems, and contribute to technical studies and planning missions, ensuring the successful implementation of electrical infrastructure for the project.
Responsibilities
Analyze and advise on the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of major electrical systems and building automation facilities, including power distribution, lighting, BMS, and emergency power. Evaluate, review, and revise project documents and design specifications for accuracy, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness. Submit technical design drawings, specifications, and reports for approval. Review and approve weekly and monthly project reports from consultants and contractors. Recommend solutions for complex engineering problems and conduct technical studies to develop planning and maintenance guidelines. Provide technical input on design issues, considering factors like power load, safety, energy efficiency, and material selection. Stay updated on engineering trends and advancements. Lead teams in studying critical design or construction problems and participate in planning missions as a technical advisor.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in electrical engineering or a related field, specifically for large-scale construction or renovation projects, is required. Experience in both construction management and design within electrical engineering is desirable, as is experience in design review and construction management for Building Management Systems (BMS).
