Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in economic affairs within the UN ESCAP's Trade Policy and Facilitation Section. The intern will support the division's work on trade policy, investment, and trade facilitation through research, analysis, and assisting in the organization of training, capacity-building activities, and regional policy dialogues. The role contributes to developing relevant policy interventions for member states, particularly those from Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, by offering first-hand perspectives on regional challenges. The internship is full-time, unpaid, and can be conducted remotely, in-person, or through a hybrid arrangement for 2-6 months.
Responsibilities
Assist in research and analysis related to trade policy, investment, and trade facilitation. Support the organization of training and capacity-building activities for policymakers. Help in organizing regional policy dialogues, meetings, events, and forums. Contribute to the division's work by providing insights and perspectives relevant to member states' challenges. Participate in the daily activities of the Trade Policy and Facilitation Section under the supervision of a staff member. This includes contributing to reports, presentations, and other relevant documentation. The intern will gain exposure to international economic policy development and regional cooperation efforts within the Asia-Pacific region.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required for this internship. However, relevant academic coursework, training, or skills in economics, law, international affairs, or public policy are beneficial. The internship is designed to provide foundational experience.
Skills
