Job Purpose
This Information Management Assistant role, located in Bangkok, Thailand, supports the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in its mission to provide timely and accurate information during emergencies. The incumbent will ensure the delivery and curation of quality content from partners, coordinate content management workflows across duty stations, and conduct quality control and verification. The role also involves monitoring and reporting technical issues, escalating problems, and recommending process improvements. A key function is client service, efficiently resolving information-related cases with empathy and sound judgment, contributing to a coordinated and effective humanitarian response by ensuring reliable data on affected populations and their urgent needs.
Responsibilities
Under supervision, the Information Management Assistant is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery and curation of quality content from information partners, initiating coverage for sudden onset crises, and ensuring visibility and relevance. The role involves coordinating content management workflows across different duty stations to foster collaboration and consistency. Responsibilities include conducting quality control and verification of content, leveraging language skills for coverage, and monitoring/reporting technical problems according to standard operating procedures. The incumbent will escalate issues and provide recommendations for improving the content management process, especially in response to technological advancements. Additionally, the role requires addressing client information needs efficiently, resolving cases ranging from simple to moderately complex with empathy and sound judgment.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in communication, information management, online editing, desktop publishing, or journalism within the humanitarian, human rights, or development sector is required (three years if holding a first-level university degree). One year of experience with web content management systems, including taxonomy and content classification, is desirable. Experience in information management related to humanitarian issues and working remotely with distributed teams is also desirable.
