Organizational Context
The Department of Operational Support (DOS) within the UN Secretariat provides end-to-end operational support and advisory services to UN entities globally. Job Purpose
This internship in Communications and Design within the UN Secretariat's Office of Supply Chain Management aims to support the department's communication efforts through graphic and web design. The intern will contribute to creating visual identity products, designing content for presentations and fact sheets, and supporting website development. The role also involves developing social media communication plans and applying design skills to enhance visual appeal and user experience. Responsibilities
Design core identity products that reflect the organization's vision, mission, and values. Prepare content and copy for corporate briefings, presentations, fact sheets, and snapshots. Support the development and enhancement of websites, focusing on layout, content, and overall look and feel. Provide design support for a variety of print and online materials. Collaborate with the team to update and maintain content on SharePoint and iSeek. Develop a communication plan for social media platforms, including topic selection and posting frequency. Apply graphic design principles to improve visual appeal, user experience, and brand consistency. Incorporate interactive elements and engaging layouts to make information accessible. Participate in brainstorming sessions for new communication initiatives. Assist in creating templates and style guides for future communications.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants should have relevant training, education, advanced coursework, or skills that can benefit the United Nations. Experience with graphic design, website design, and related software is beneficial. Knowledge of data analysis tools is desirable.
