Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint UN and WTO agency, promotes sustainable trade and exports from developing countries. The CEEAC Services Programme, funded by the EU and implemented by ITC, aims to boost intra-regional, continental, and bilateral trade in services within Central Africa, focusing on specific sectors and prioritizing women and youth-led businesses.
Job Purpose
This role provides specialized support to effectively implement the CEEAC Services Programme activities, contributing to increased trade liberalization and services exports in Central Africa under the AfCFTA framework. The purpose is to enhance economic inclusion and sustainable trade practices by prioritizing women and youth-led enterprises. The specialist will analyze trade barriers, support member states in developing specific commitments, raise awareness of export opportunities, and contribute to developing harmonized regulations for services trade, ultimately fostering economic development and job creation across the 11 CEEAC countries.
Responsibilities
The Specialist will coordinate and govern the project by assisting in program coordination, supporting stakeholder collaboration, and monitoring communication with national focal points. They will participate in meetings, planning, progress tracking, and evaluation of project results. Technical support includes contributing to Terms of Reference for consultants, coordinating expert work, identifying relevant organizations for collaboration, and managing requests from the ECCAS Commission and private sector stakeholders. The role also involves capacity building by supporting partner institutions and contributing to institutional capacity strengthening. Operational tasks include participating in workshops, preparing reports, providing administrative and technical support for events, and contributing to the formulation of a strategic roadmap for CEEAC services sectors.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in services trade or a related field is required. Experience in multi-country development projects, conducting economic studies, project monitoring and reporting, and working in Central Africa are desirable.
Skills
Professionalism, understanding of AfCFTA protocols and Central African business environment, knowledge of priority services sectors, research and data analysis, IT proficiency (Microsoft Office), planning and organizing, client-orientation, and strong communication skills.
