Organizational Context
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (UN RCO) in Cabo Verde operates under a global reform to effectively achieve the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. This office supports national development priorities and SDG attainment. The intern will gain experience within the UN Country Team, facilitating dialogues with diverse partners to enhance development assistance.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience within the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Cabo Verde. The intern will support the Partnership and Development Finance Officer and the RCO team in facilitating dialogues with government, private sector, civil society, and other stakeholders to improve development assistance policies and practices. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the activities of the UN Country Team, contributing to the UN's reform efforts aimed at achieving the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. The intern will play a supportive role in various RCO functions, enhancing their understanding of international development cooperation and UN operations.
Responsibilities
Assist in drafting official documents, correspondence, briefing notes, and internal coordination materials. Develop presentations, infographics, and visual briefs for RCO meetings and external engagements. Produce minutes, summary reports, and action trackers from meetings and consultations. Support the planning, coordination, and logistical preparation for RCO events and partnership meetings. Contribute to social media outreach and communication efforts related to partnerships and normative themes. Conduct background research, data collection, synthesis, and presentation on partnerships and normative priorities, including gender equality. Maintain partnership databases, stakeholder mappings, and contact lists, tracking commitments. Support the implementation of the RCO’s workplan and inter-agency engagement. Assist with other ad hoc activities as required by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, previous academic or volunteer experience related to the United Nations, development cooperation, research, communications, partnerships, or event coordination is desirable. Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN system is also beneficial.
Skills
Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills. Demonstrated interest in sustainable development, international cooperation, or multilateral affairs. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Experience with standard software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Teams). Desirable: Social media content creation, graphic design tools, research, and analytical summary preparation.
