Organizational Context

The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) support countries in achieving development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals, as part of a global reform of the UN Development System. This role is situated within the UN RCO in Apia, Samoa, reporting to the Resident Coordinator Team Leader.

Job Purpose

This driver position supports the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Apia, Samoa. The primary purpose is to provide safe and reliable transportation for the UN Resident Coordinator and authorized personnel. The role involves maintaining vehicle upkeep, ensuring adherence to security protocols, and facilitating the efficient movement of personnel and documents. The incumbent will also assist with minor purchases, customs clearance, and airport meet-and-greets, contributing to the smooth operation of the RCO and its support for national development priorities and SDGs.

Responsibilities

Safely drive UN Resident Coordinator and authorized personnel. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all security and organizational protocols. Deliver parcels and documents between UN and other offices/institutions. Make minor purchases and collect urgent items from local suppliers. Facilitate customs clearance for goods and meet/assist official personnel at the airport. Perform day-to-day vehicle maintenance, including checks, minor repairs, and cleaning. Log all official trips, mileage, and fuel consumption. Ensure compliance with regulations in case of accidents. Apply good judgment in all assignments and perform other assigned duties.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressive, responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Experience driving various vehicle types is necessary. Experience with the United Nations or a similar international organization is desirable.
