Organizational Context
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) seeks a Filmmaker consultant in Beirut, Lebanon. This role supports the Lebanon Field Office in creating high-quality audiovisual materials to document and communicate UNRWA's programs, interventions, and engagement with the Palestine Refugee community.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to produce and deliver compelling audiovisual and communication materials that effectively document and communicate UNRWA’s programmes, humanitarian interventions, response efforts, and donor-funded projects within Lebanon. The role contributes to enhancing the visibility and understanding of UNRWA's work and its impact on the Palestine Refugee community. This involves capturing the realities of refugees, showcasing field activities, and ensuring all content aligns with UNRWA's messaging, branding, and ethical standards. The consultant will play a key role in visual storytelling, creating engaging content for various platforms to support UNRWA's communication objectives and humanitarian mandate in Lebanon.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide high-quality video and photography services, covering UNRWA programs, refugee living conditions, and field activities in Lebanon, ensuring alignment with UNRWA messaging and branding. Responsibilities include producing and editing short films, videos, and reels with subtitles and visual enhancements. Developing concepts, scripts, and storyboards for diverse media platforms is essential. The role involves reviewing drafts, providing technical input on quality, and capturing, editing, and archiving photos. The consultant will monitor communication materials for compliance with UNRWA standards, coordinate with the Field Public Information Officer and relevant departments for content needs, and participate in field visits for content collection and community engagement. Ad hoc audiovisual and communication tasks as required are also part of the duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of documented professional experience in film/documentary writing, producing, directing, videography, photography, and editing is required. Proven experience in producing digital multimedia content and managing audiovisual projects is also necessary. Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, or UN agencies is considered an asset.
Skills
Excellent command of written and spoken English; good working knowledge of Arabic. Excellent communication and drafting skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, or equivalent).
