Job Purpose
This role is to provide technical expertise for the planning, coordination, and implementation of nine participatory workshops in Rio de Janeiro. These workshops are crucial for revising the City's Sustainable Development and Climate Action Plan, engaging residents, civil society organizations, and municipal representatives. The consultant will ensure effective facilitation, material development, and documentation of these crucial engagement activities, contributing to more effective, sustainable, and socially fairer urban policies in alignment with UN-Habitat's mandate and the 2030 Agenda.
Responsibilities
The Technical Consultant will develop a detailed work plan, including objectives, activities, methodologies, and timelines, aligned with UN-Habitat guidelines. Key duties involve coordinating and facilitating nine participatory workshops with diverse stakeholders on sustainable urban development. This includes developing all necessary workshop materials, such as visual presentations and participatory tools, and designing innovative methodologies for engagement. The consultant will also conduct a participatory diagnosis, oversee workshop logistics, document workshop outcomes, and present results to UN-Habitat and the Municipality. Ensuring compliance with UN-Habitat standards for visibility, data protection, and ethics is also a core responsibility.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of professional experience in providing technical support for participatory urban design projects in Brazil is required. Previous experience working with the 2030 Agenda and the New Urban Agenda is also necessary. Experience within the UN System is considered desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office. Strong facilitation and communication skills, especially with diverse community groups. Ability to design and apply creative, age-appropriate, and participatory methodologies. Capacity to systematize qualitative information and produce clear technical reports. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and public institutions.
