Organizational Context
This internship is within the Management Unit of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund, part of the Capacity Development Programme Management Office (CDPMO) in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) at UN Headquarters in New York. The unit supports projects funded by the UN Peace and Development Trust Fund (UNPDF) to enhance national capacities for sustainable development.
Job Purpose
The intern will support the planning and implementation of projects and activities funded under the 2030 Agenda Sub-Fund of the UNPDF. This role involves assisting with project proposal development, organizing meetings, tracking follow-up actions, and conducting research for background materials. The intern will also support the preparation of briefing notes, summaries, and presentations. Additionally, the role includes supporting day-to-day management, information management, and updating visibility materials for the Sub-Fund. This internship offers exposure to UN operations and sustainable development initiatives.
Responsibilities
Provide assistance in developing, reviewing, and preparing project proposals for sustainable development initiatives. Support the organization of meetings by preparing documentation, consolidating information, and recording minutes. Track follow-up actions related to project reviews, implementation, and reporting. Conduct research and analyze data for background materials and information resources. Assist in preparing briefing notes, summaries, and presentations. Support daily management activities, including documentation organization, filing, and information management. Update visibility and information materials, such as web pages, project summaries, and brochures. Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisors.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must meet the specified educational criteria. A field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Familiarity with standard software applications is expected.
