Organizational Context
The United Nations Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict (TOE), within the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (SRSG-SVC), aims to assist national authorities in strengthening the rule of law and ensuring accountability for sexual violence in conflict. This internship is based in New York and supports the critical mandate of the TOE.
Job Purpose
This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within the United Nations Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict (TOE). The intern will support the TOE's mission to bolster national efforts in establishing the rule of law and prosecuting perpetrators of conflict-related sexual violence. This role contributes to the broader UN objectives of promoting peace, security, and justice by assisting in research, administrative tasks, event organization, and documentation, thereby supporting the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict's vital work.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the monitoring of relevant country developments for the TOE. Key duties include assisting with routine administrative tasks, organizing conferences, events, and meetings, and taking notes to produce summaries and action points. The intern will also aid TOE members with research, accompany them to meetings with Permanent Missions and other UN offices, and attend sessions of the Security Council and General Assembly. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the preparation of public information materials, social media content, presentations, and documents, and performing other requested functions under supervisor guidance.
