Organizational Context

The United Nations Secretariat, Department of Global Communications, seeks an intern for UN Web TV in New York. This full-time, 4-6 month internship offers hands-on experience in digital media production and dissemination for a global audience, contributing to the UN's communication efforts.

Job Purpose

The Language Intern will support the UN Web TV platform by contributing to the daily live and on-demand streaming coverage of United Nations meetings and events. This role involves learning to use cloud video platforms for uploading and publishing video content with relevant metadata. The intern will also assist with streaming content across social media channels, including YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, and undertake other related tasks to enhance the UN's digital outreach and engagement.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the daily live and on-demand streaming coverage of UN meetings and events via the UN Web TV platform. Receive training on using cloud video platforms for uploading videos and associated language metadata for publication. Assist with live and on-demand streaming activities on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Undertake additional tasks as assigned to support the UN Web TV unit's operational needs and communication objectives.

Work Experience

No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Proficiency in standard software applications like MS Word, PowerPoint, and Teams is expected. Experience drafting news articles or social media posts, and designing surveys/polls is desirable.

Skills

Computer literacy in standard word processing and spreadsheets. Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds. Keen interest in the UN's work and commitment to its Charter ideals. Fluency in English. Knowledge of an additional UN official language is a plus.
