Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience within the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD) at the UN Secretariat. The intern will support the Division's mandate to foster international cooperation in social development, focusing on areas such as poverty eradication, employment, and the social inclusion of various groups, including Indigenous peoples. The role involves contributing to key events and initiatives, working under the guidance of a Social Affairs Officer, and gaining exposure to the work of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
Responsibilities
The intern will contribute to the successful delivery of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples event and assist in the preparation of inputs for the Expert Group Meeting. Responsibilities include promoting key messages through social media channels and updating website content related to Indigenous Peoples. The intern will also support the preparation of other relevant meetings, working collaboratively under the supervision of a Social Affairs Officer within the Indigenous Peoples Development Branch.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship's focus. Applicants must be current students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such a program.
Skills
Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage. A field of study closely related to the internship's focus is necessary.
