Economic affairs Intern: Development Cooperation
Organizational Context
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), specifically the International Tax and Development Cooperation Branch (ITDCB) within the Financing for Sustainable Development Office (FSDO), is seeking an intern. This role supports the Development Cooperation Forum (DCF), a key UN body reviewing international development cooperation trends, and a UN initiative enhancing infrastructure asset management capacities in developing countries.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the effective dissemination, outreach, and communication of the analytical, policy, and capacity development work undertaken by the Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) and the UN infrastructure asset management initiative. The intern will contribute to communicating these efforts at national, regional, and global events, engaging with various stakeholders, and utilizing targeted communication channels. The role is crucial for enhancing the visibility and impact of UN initiatives focused on international development cooperation and sustainable infrastructure, aligning with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Responsibilities
The intern will support communication, outreach, and knowledge management activities related to international development cooperation and infrastructure asset management. Key duties include assisting in the development and execution of communication strategies, preparing and managing communication materials for diverse platforms (websites, newsletters, social media, articles, presentations), and supporting the creation of visibility materials for events. The role involves conducting research, collecting and visualizing data on development cooperation and infrastructure asset management trends, and participating in event planning. Additionally, the intern will track communication effectiveness, engage with stakeholders, and perform other assigned communication-related tasks under supervision.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a strong academic background in a relevant field is essential. Familiarity with standard software applications is expected, and experience or ability in areas such as drafting news articles, social media posts, or designing surveys is considered desirable.
