Job Purpose
This role serves as a Specialist Course Instructor for Session 9 of the "Integrated Territorial Planning: Strategies for Municipal Resilience" course. The primary purpose is to deliver high-quality training on sustainable interventions in infrastructure and housing, focusing on climate adaptation and resilience. The instructor will develop and deliver engaging content, facilitate interactive learning, and contribute to strengthening the capacities of public officials in municipalities within the State of Rio de Janeiro, aligning with UN-Habitat's mandate and the project's objectives for urban resilience and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
The Specialist Course Instructor is responsible for designing and developing accurate and pedagogically sound training materials for Session 9, aligning with project objectives and UN-Habitat standards. This includes preparing a PowerPoint presentation and a lesson plan. The instructor will deliver the assigned two-and-a-half-hour virtual training session, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and participant engagement. Post-session follow-up, including responding to participant questions, is required. The role also involves participating in alignment and validation meetings, adhering to ethical training principles, and ensuring compliance with UN-Habitat quality standards and project requirements. The instructor will also contribute quiz questions and interactive activities for the course platform.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of professional experience in teaching or facilitating participatory processes in Brazil is required. Essential experience includes territorial and environmental planning in Brazil, and work on climate crisis research or climate adaptation projects with an urban planning focus. Experience with multilevel climate policies and within the UN System is desirable.
Skills
Strong training delivery skills for education professionals and public sector staff; ability to design and facilitate theoretical and practical activities using agile and participatory approaches; effective teamwork and flexibility; excellent written and spoken Portuguese; experience in capacity building for multidisciplinary public sector teams; knowledge of virtual learning platforms; professionalism; planning and organization; communication; and teamwork.
