Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) addresses global and regional environmental issues, coordinating policy consensus and bringing emerging concerns to international attention. Its Industry and Economy Division collaborates with governments and organizations to implement sustainable policies. The Economic and Trade Policy Unit executes the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) country activities.
Job Purpose
This role provides analytical, research, and coordination support to an international lead consultant for the effective application of the Sustainable Banking Assessment (SBA) in Guatemala. The purpose is to facilitate SBA implementation, contribute to national capacity-building, and support the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) initiative. The consultant will assist in data management, documentation of training sessions and meetings, preparation of technical inputs for government engagement, and contribute to the final evaluation of SBA implementation, including lessons learned and recommendations for sustainability.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide analytical, research, and coordination support for the application of the Sustainable Banking Assessment (SBA) in Guatemala. Key duties include mapping and organizing relevant data sources, supporting data processing and documentation, and providing logistical and technical assistance for SBA training sessions and technical meetings with government counterparts. Responsibilities also involve preparing background notes and technical inputs for government engagement, conducting initial research for the PAGE South-South exchange event, and contributing technical inputs to document the SBA tool's application. The role includes consolidating documentation and analysis of training sessions and stakeholder engagement, contributing to the final evaluation of SBA implementation, and supporting the preparation and delivery of the PAGE South-South exchange event.
Work Experience
At least three years of relevant experience in environmental economics, sustainable finance, or public finance is required. Demonstrated experience working with government institutions or public sector counterparts, preferably in Latin America, is also required. Proven experience in data collection and analysis is necessary. Experience in organizing and documenting technical workshops, training sessions, and international events is desirable.
