Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator System (RCO) in Mauritius and Seychelles enhances UN system coherence and impact in development activities. The RCO Office, based in Mauritius, covers both countries and supports strategic analysis, planning, and the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). This internship offers a chance to learn about UN country-level operations and contribute to crucial policy research and analysis.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide a valuable learning experience within the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) for Mauritius and Seychelles. The intern will contribute to enhancing UN system coherence and impact by supporting policy research, data analysis, and advocacy efforts. This role is critical during the implementation of the UNSDCF 2024-2028, offering insights into UN agency functions, country programming, and government interactions. The intern will gain practical experience in data gathering, analysis, policy brief drafting, event organization, and communications, reporting to the Data Management Officer and RCO Team Leader.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the RCO and UN Country Team (UNCT) in policy and data-related activities. Key responsibilities include gathering and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using tools like Excel, SPSS, or Python, and presenting findings through charts and dashboards. The role involves assisting in policy research, reviewing relevant policies and regulations, and contributing to policy brief writing and report generation. Additionally, the intern will support event organization, manage social media content, draft articles, maintain digital platforms, and assist with communications and visibility actions, including photography and videography for events. Continuous learning in policy analysis and data analytics is also expected.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, or pursuing or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. program. A field of study closely related to the internship's focus is necessary.
