Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), a multi-stakeholder partnership promoting a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector. This role supports GlobalABC Hubs, Action Groups, and the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate (ICBC) to advance global climate goals.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to develop technical analyses, policy documents, and communication materials to advance the work of GlobalABC Hubs, Action Groups, and the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate (ICBC). The role contributes to UNEP's efforts in promoting sustainability in buildings and construction, aligning with the Paris Agreement, New Urban Agenda, and Sustainable Development Goals. The consultant will support stakeholder engagement, knowledge material development, and intergovernmental processes, ensuring tangible progress and alignment with global climate commitments.
Responsibilities
Develop technical analyses, policy documents, and communication materials for GlobalABC Hubs, Action Groups, and ICBC. Produce stakeholder and membership mapping reports, technical notes, and analytical reports on priority themes. Prepare background documents and briefing notes for sessions. Contribute to GlobalABC knowledge materials and analytical reports on emerging issues. Create mapping reports and reviews of ICBC workplans, country briefing materials, and needs assessment reports. Develop background documents, agendas, and summary briefs for ICBC sessions, and track member country alignment with commitments.
Work Experience
At least two years of working experience in sustainable buildings, environment, or climate change is required. Experience with sustainable buildings and construction initiatives is essential. Experience working with international organizations and intergovernmental processes is desirable.
