Organizational Context

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is developing a digital ecosystem, the Regional Youth Network for Central Asia (RYNCA) website and mobile applications. This initiative aims to facilitate youth engagement, promote substance use prevention, and support initiatives in health, education, and civic participation across Central Asia. The role of the Full Stack Web Developer is crucial for engineering, deploying, and maintaining these integrated digital platforms.

Job Purpose

The Full Stack Web Developer will engineer, deploy, and maintain the RYNCA digital ecosystem, including a website and mobile applications. This role is essential for creating an intuitive and accessible interface that facilitates youth engagement and promotes evidence-based substance use prevention across Central Asia. The developer will ensure the platform effectively connects young people, supports initiatives in health, education, and civic participation, and enables genuine participation in policy dialogue. The purpose is to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem that drives civic engagement by providing up-to-date information on events and activities, thereby aligning with UNODC's project objectives and RYNCA's Terms of Reference.

Responsibilities

The Full Stack Web Developer will be responsible for the end-to-end development of the RYNCA website and mobile applications. This includes backend and frontend development using specified technologies such as Laravel Sanctum, PostgreSQL, React, and React Native. Key duties involve implementing a shared codebase for cross-platform functionality (iOS and Android), engineering a centralized backend API for data synchronization, and developing secure event management and registration systems. The role also requires providing support for hosting and domain services, ensuring brand integrity by adhering to RYNCA guidelines, and performing continuous system maintenance, debugging, and issue resolution throughout the testing phase.

Work Experience

Requires at least seven years of experience in full stack web development (e.g., WordPress, Laravel, Node.js, React/Next.js, Vue) and mobile application development (iOS and Android). Experience in UI/UX design, wireframing, prototyping (e.g., Figma), and optimizing complex interfaces is desirable. Experience integrating third-party services and developing REST APIs or GraphQL is also desirable.
