Intern-Sales/Marketing Assistant
Organizational Context
The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa, seeks interns for the Publications & Conference Management Section. This section is part of the Administration and Conference Management Division. Interns will report to the Chief Conference Planning and Coordination Services Unit and the Team Leader/Marketing.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in sales and marketing support within the UN Secretariat's Publications & Conference Management Section. The intern will contribute to promotional activities, market research, event planning, customer service, and administrative tasks. This role supports the section's outreach efforts and operational efficiency, offering a valuable learning opportunity in a global organizational context. The position is for six months, with potential for extension, and requires full-time commitment.
Responsibilities
Draft promotional content for various media, including websites, emails, brochures, and flyers. Conduct basic market research and update online information. Maintain accurate sales and marketing databases. Assist in planning outreach activities and promotional events, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors. Respond to customer inquiries, provide product and pricing details, and manage customer records. Support daily administrative operations such as communication, order processing, invoicing, and logistics. Aid in data collection and basic reporting for marketing performance and sales trends. Perform other assigned duties as required.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this UN Internship Programme. However, a relevant field of study is essential. Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree, pursuing a Master's or Ph.D., or have already completed such a degree.
Skills
Drafting promotional content, market research, database management, event planning support, customer service, administrative operations, data collection, reporting, fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of an additional official UN language is advantageous.
