Communications consultant
Organizational Context
The Universal Postal Union (UPU) Administration and Cabinet Directorate seeks a Communications Consultant to support the CC Secretariat in implementing its communication strategy. This remote, 6-month consultancy role focuses on enhancing the CC's presence across various communication channels and ensuring consistent visibility for its members within UPU's communication platforms.
Job Purpose
The Communication Consultant will play a pivotal role in executing the CC's communication strategy for the new cycle. This involves ensuring a robust presence on social media, the CC webpage, and other UPU communication channels, thereby maintaining and updating the visibility of CC members. The consultant will be responsible for developing and producing diverse editorial content, including success stories and member spotlights, and crafting key messaging tailored for various stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves designing communication materials, managing digital platforms, and fostering member relations to support outreach and engagement efforts, all while coordinating closely with the UPU Communication program to ensure alignment and coherence.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include content production and editorial management, developing editorial content for the CC webpage, newsletters, and social media, and crafting key messaging for diverse audiences. The consultant will also manage visual design and brand consistency, creating and adapting communication materials like banners, flyers, and infographics, ensuring alignment with UPU brand guidelines and developing visual assets for digital channels. Digital channel and platform management involves maintaining and updating the CC webpage, monitoring and moderating the CC WhatsApp Community, and tracking channel performance. Furthermore, the role encompasses member relations and stakeholder engagement, liaising with members to gather content, maintaining contact lists, and supporting outreach to prospective members. The consultant will also support the implementation and monitoring of the communication strategy, coordinate activities with the UPU Communication program, and produce periodic reports on communication outcomes.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of professional communications experience, preferably within an international or intergovernmental organization. Essential experience includes managing digital channels and social media, newsletter production tools, and website content management systems. Experience in member or stakeholder communications is also required.

Strong organizational skills, multitasking, adaptability, multicultural environment proficiency, ability to work under pressure, initiative, content production, editorial skills, visual design, brand consistency, digital channel management, social media management, website content management, member/stakeholder communications, Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), familiarity with Premiere Pro is desirable, proficiency in English, and good working knowledge of French.
