The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Colombia seeks a consultant to support the "Territorios Campesinos que conectan la paz y la selva: Conexión Amazonía” initiative. This role focuses on developing and implementing training programs on environmental conflict resolution, participatory zoning, and campesino rights within the Amazonian region.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop and deliver training on critical issues including dialogue, socio-environmental conflict management, and participatory environmental zoning for campesino communities in the Amazon region. The role involves designing training methodologies grounded in human rights, campesino rights, indigenous rights, and environmental law. Additionally, the consultant will support the establishment and strengthening of conflict resolution mechanisms within these communities, ensuring that all activities and documentation align with OHCHR's mandate and international human rights standards. This position contributes to peacebuilding and sustainable development by empowering local communities with knowledge and tools for territorial management and conflict resolution.
Responsibilities
Develop a training proposal covering dialogue, socio-environmental conflict management, participatory environmental zoning (ZAP), and campesino, indigenous, and environmental rights, including training-of-trainers. Implement training sessions for campesino communities, focusing on leaders, women, youth, and community boards, on dialogue, conflict prevention and management, ZAP, and related rights. Design a community dialogue methodology for addressing socio-environmental and territorial conflicts. Analyze key socio-environmental conflicts within the designated zones. Coordinate with OHCHR to ensure all community documents and instruments integrate human rights and international standards. Ensure the confidential and secure handling of information. Participate in inter-institutional forums on campesino rights, territorialities, and environmental issues.
Work Experience
Requires 10 years of professional experience in areas related to campesino rights, land and campesino territorialities, and environmental zoning. Experience in developing and delivering training programs is also essential.
