Individual Contractor Researcher on transport and logistics

Organizational Context

The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), seeks an Individual Contractor Researcher. This role will operate on a hybrid work model from Beirut for an expected duration of 4 months. The researcher will contribute to IGM's work on transport and logistics.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support IGM's initiatives in transport and logistics by generating evidence-based insights. The researcher will conduct data analysis, review sector trends, and produce research outputs on mobility, supply chains, and infrastructure performance. This position is crucial for informing policy and operational decisions within the Arab region. The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables that align with IGM's research standards and objectives, ultimately contributing to the successful execution of transport and logistics-related projects.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on transport and logistics activities within the Arab region, including data collection and summarization. Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, and technical outputs that meet IGM's standards and project objectives. Undertake specific, in-depth analyses on selected transport and logistics-related subjects. Provide background research support and assist in project management tasks for transport and logistics initiatives. Participate actively in the delivery of required project activities. Create statistical tables and graphs, and assist in the preparation of presentations and other substantive materials. Provide translation services for transport-related deliverables. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in research, data collection, and analysis is required. Additionally, two years of experience specifically in transport and logistics, and road safety issues within the Arab region, is desirable.
