The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority. The Cool Coalition, established in 2019, is a multistakeholder platform supporting countries in taking integrated action on sustainable cooling to meet climate goals. The Secretariat requires support in partnerships, coordination, administration, and knowledge management.
Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports the Cool Coalition Secretariat, contributing to its effective operation and the advancement of sustainable cooling initiatives. The incumbent will assist in key activities, including the preparation for the Global Cooling Pledge Assembly 2026 and engagements for COP31. The role is crucial for facilitating the global transition to sustainable cooling, essential for improving quality of life and health while minimizing environmental impact. The consultant will work under the Head of Secretariat, collaborating with the Partnerships Engagement Lead and the wider team to drive the Coalition's mission forward and support countries in achieving climate targets through integrated cooling strategies.
Responsibilities
Support the Cool Coalition Secretariat in partnership engagement and coordination. Assist with administrative tasks and knowledge management activities. Contribute to the effective running of the Coalition's operations. Prepare for key events such as the Global Cooling Pledge Assembly 2026 and COP31 engagements. Facilitate collaboration across the cooling value chain, supporting science, policy, and advocacy efforts. Track progress on the Global Cooling Pledge targets, potentially contributing to the Global Cooling Watch report. Provide logistical support and outreach for the Secretariat's initiatives. Work in close coordination with the Partnerships Engagement Lead and the broader Secretariat team.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience is required, specifically supporting work related to urban development and planning, climate change, and sustainable development. Experience must be calculated following the receipt of the first-level university degree. Proven experience and skills in policy and/or technical report writing are also necessary.
