Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator - Local Consultant
Organizational Context
The UN Secretariat, through UNRWA's Programme Education in Lebanon, seeks a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator. This role operates within the Tyre and North Lebanon Area, focusing on integrating MHPSS activities into educational and recreational settings to support the well-being of children and adolescents.
Job Purpose
The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator will support the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the MHPSS Program within UNRWA schools in Lebanon. This includes developing operational plans, assessing training needs, building capacity of school staff, and delivering awareness sessions for students, caregivers, and the community. The role also involves integrating MHPSS into recreational and sport activities and coordinating with other programs and actors to ensure comprehensive psychosocial and child protection services for students, contributing to a nurturing and supportive school environment.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the MHPSS Program in UNRWA schools. This involves assisting in the development and execution of operational plans in collaboration with education officers and school principals. The role requires assessing training needs and building the capacity of school counselors and management in MHPSS activities, providing necessary technical support. Additionally, the coordinator will ensure the delivery of awareness sessions to various stakeholders and develop related materials. A significant duty is integrating MHPSS into recreational and sport activities to enhance student well-being. Collaboration with education programs and child protection actors is essential for delivering integrated services. The coordinator will also perform other assigned duties by the supervisor.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in directly managing MHPSS cases, including receiving and referring high-level cases, is required. This includes at least 3 years of experience delivering PSS/child protection capacity-building trainings. A Master's degree holder needs 4 years of experience, with 3 years in MHPSS/child protection capacity building.
Skills
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic. Competencies include Relating and Networking, Persuading and Influencing, Applying Technical Expertise, Following Instructions and Procedures, and Coping with Pressure and Setbacks.
