Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is a regional commission of the United Nations dedicated to fostering economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its mission involves policy design, monitoring, evaluation, advisory services, and promoting regional cooperation. This internship role is situated within the Public Management and Open Government Area.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to contribute to ECLAC's mission by supporting research and analysis in public management, institutional planning, and policy evaluation. The intern will assist in developing knowledge products, managing observatories, and systematizing experiences related to sustainable development goals. The role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in policy analysis and contribute to the region's development efforts under the guidance of senior staff. The internship focuses on enhancing understanding and application of concepts like results-based management, open government, and digital governance within the Latin American and Caribbean context.
Responsibilities
Support research on public management topics including results-based management, institutional planning, monitoring and evaluation, open government, digital government, and performance management. Analyze current trends and country-specific experiences, preparing draft texts, infographics, and other knowledge products. Assist in managing and updating the ILPES Regional Planning Observatory. Systematize experiences related to the territorialization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prepare various reports, presentations, charts, graphs, and diagrams for review. Create summaries and bibliographic descriptions for publications. Transfer content to digital learning applications like Canva and Genially. Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this UN Internship Programme. However, experience in public administration, public policy, and/or social sciences is desirable. A field of study closely related to the internship's focus is essential.
Skills
Research and analysis, public management, institutional planning, monitoring and evaluation, open government, digital government, performance management, report writing, presentation skills, data visualization, content creation (infographics, digital learning materials), proficiency in Spanish, knowledge of additional UN languages.
