Job Purpose
The Information Management Intern will support the Department of Peacekeeping Operations by exploring and applying generative AI tools for data processing, automation, and information management. This role involves conducting statistical analysis, creating data visualizations, developing reports and dashboards, and building data collection applications using Microsoft O365 suite and Ms SQL. The intern will also contribute to developing prototypes, technical documentation, and guidance on data tools, directly supporting the department's data-driven initiatives and enhancing information management capabilities. The internship aims to provide practical experience in modern information management techniques and AI applications within a UN context.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist in exploring generative AI tools for data processing, automation, and information management. Key duties include performing statistical analysis on datasets, preparing infographics and PowerPoint presentations, and designing/implementing data-driven reports and dashboards using Ms Power BI. The role also involves developing data collection applications using Microsoft O365 (Sharepoint, PowerApps, Flow/Power Automate) and Ms SQL. Additionally, the intern will support the creation of simple prototypes incorporating generative AI, assist in developing technical documentation, and provide guidance on data collection and visualization tools. Other related duties as required will also be undertaken.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, applicants must be students in the final year of a university degree program (bachelor's or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such a program. Proficiency in standard office software and equipment is necessary.
