The Nairobi Convention, administered by UNEP, focuses on the protection, management, and development of the Western Indian Ocean's coastal and marine environment. This internship is based in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting the Convention's programmes and reporting mechanisms.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Nairobi Convention's programmes, projects, and reporting mechanisms. The intern will contribute to enhancing the Convention's online presence and digital knowledge-sharing systems. Key contributions include developing and maintaining website pages, creating visualization dashboards for projects, collating and organizing project data, and supporting data analysis for communication and decision-making. The role also involves publishing event-related web content and ensuring the timely upload of relevant documents, ultimately improving the Convention's visibility and accessibility online.
Responsibilities
Develop, update, and maintain Nairobi Convention website pages and related web platforms. Create and maintain visualization dashboard pages for various Convention projects. Collate, organize, and prepare project information, outputs, and datasets for integration into reporting tools. Support the integration of data from multiple sources into cohesive datasets for dashboards and web pages. Assist in developing and updating metadata and structured information for web maps and project information systems. Conduct data analysis using digital tools to generate insights for project communication. Create, update, and publish web pages for events like COP12, ensuring timely posting of documents. Upload and maintain website content, including project documents, event resources, and updates. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Convention’s online visibility, accessibility, and digital knowledge-sharing systems.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Desirable experience includes front-end development, content management systems, data visualization, or web-based information systems.
