This internship is based in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting the Convention's communication and outreach objectives.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Nairobi Convention Secretariat's communication, outreach, and visibility goals by producing high-quality video and multimedia content. The role will contribute to enhanced storytelling, digital engagement, and the promotion of regional marine and coastal initiatives. The intern will assist in conceptualizing, producing, and disseminating video content that highlights critical marine and coastal issues across the Western Indian Ocean region, thereby increasing awareness and supporting the Convention's programmes and reporting mechanisms for its Contracting Parties.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the planning, research, scripting, and storyboarding of video and multimedia content for campaigns and digital platforms. Key duties include filming and editing video content such as interviews, event highlights, documentaries, and testimonials. The role involves producing short-form multimedia content for social media, editing materials with graphics and subtitles for accessibility, and developing visual storytelling products to showcase programme results and project impacts. Additionally, the intern will assist in creating communication materials for key events, collaborate with teams to translate complex content into visual narratives, maintain multimedia archives, and support website updates and other communication activities as needed.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, experience in video production, filming, editing, and multimedia storytelling through academic projects, internships, freelance work, or personal projects is desirable. A portfolio or showreel demonstrating relevant skills is highly recommended.
