Organizational Context
The Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) requires an Electrician to ensure the continuous and safe operation of electrical systems within its premises. This role is crucial for preventing electrical malfunctions and ensuring a secure working environment for all staff. The position is based in Beirut and is for an expected duration of 6 months.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to prevent and resolve any electrical problems or malfunctions within the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) premises. The Electrician will be responsible for the maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, and testing of all electrical apparatus, ensuring compliance with architectural and code specifications. This includes running wires, testing connections, and repairing electrical equipment. The role also involves assisting with mechanical repairs and responding to emergencies 24/7, reporting to the premises immediately when called upon to address urgent issues, thereby maintaining operational continuity and safety.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, and testing of all electrical apparatus within UNSCOL premises. Ensure all electrical installations comply with architectural and code specifications, including running wires through conduit. Conduct thorough testing of wiring connections using equipment such as volt/ohmmeters and oscilloscopes. Repair electrical-based equipment and assist with mechanical repairs, including 3-phase industrial breakers and machine control panels. Conduct periodic inspections of electrical equipment, test, and replace circuit breakers and switches as needed. Provide emergency electrical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, responding promptly to the premises when called to fix any occurring problems.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in electrical repair and maintenance, or a closely related field, is required. Experience with testing equipment and mechanical repairs is beneficial. Availability for emergency call-outs, including nights and weekends, is expected.

Electrical repair and maintenance, installation, testing, wiring, troubleshooting, knowledge of electrical apparatus, familiarity with testing equipment (volt/ohmmeters, oscilloscopes), mechanical repair assistance, emergency response, compliance with architectural and code specifications.
