Job Purpose
The Cloud Support Engineer will provide specialized technical support for UNRWA's IT infrastructure, focusing on Azure cloud services and Kubernetes. The primary purpose is to ensure the optimal performance, availability, and security of systems by managing clusters, performing administration tasks, and conducting regular monitoring. This role contributes to reliable service delivery and business continuity, supporting the transition and ongoing operations of critical IT environments. The engineer will also be responsible for technical documentation and collaborating with other units to implement effective technical solutions.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the technical handover of Azure cloud app services, Kubernetes, and Azure SQL infrastructure. The role involves performing application systems administration, including MS SQL server database management, software patching, and upgrades. Conducting systems health and performance monitoring to ensure optimal functionality and risk mitigation is essential. The engineer will provide maintenance, monitor system availability and performance, and prepare technical reports. Maintaining up-to-date documentation for system inventory, configurations, and disaster recovery is also a core duty. Proactively identifying and mitigating operational and security risks, preparing technical documentation and user manuals, and participating in agile ceremonies are also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in Azure or Cloud infrastructure and systems administration is required. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, MS Windows Server, and MS SQL database administration is essential. Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and DevOps is preferred, along with familiarity with networking concepts and observability tools.
