Organizational Context
This internship is within the Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) of the Division for Special Activities (DSA) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS) at UN Headquarters in New York. DOS provides operational advisory services across the Secretariat, supporting various entities with start-up, surge, and transition requirements. TPP specifically aims to enhance peacekeeping capabilities by supporting Member States and Troop/Police-Contributing Countries.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support the Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS) at the United Nations Headquarters. The intern will contribute to TPP's mission of enhancing peacekeeping capabilities by assisting with information management, meeting coordination, reporting, and research. This role offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in programme support within a global organization, contributing to significant projects and learning about the UN's operational functions. The intern will work under the guidance of a Programme Officer, engaging in tasks designed to support high-level engagements and operational activities, making a tangible difference within the DOS.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide crucial support to the Triangular Partnership Programme (TPP) under the guidance of professional staff. Key responsibilities include assisting with knowledge management by organizing substantive materials, consolidating information on training development and outcomes, and preparing briefing materials. The intern will also support the design and development of products for high-level engagements and maintain records of meetings and action items. In planning and coordination, duties involve supporting TPP trainings and meetings, preparing background documents, and taking notes. Research support will be provided for background materials. Additionally, the intern will assist with public relations activities, including social media and article development, and help schedule meetings and find venues. Operational and administrative support, such as drafting correspondence and managing daily team activities, will also be required.
