Security Guard Supervisor
Organizational Context
The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is responsible for ensuring the physical security, defense, and protection of UN staff, property, and installations in Abyei. This role operates within UNISFA, reporting to the Compound Security Unit, and contributes to the effective management of security guard shifts.
Job Purpose
The Security Guard Supervisor's primary purpose is to ensure the smooth and effective operation of security guard shifts, maintaining the physical security, defense, and protection of all UN staff, property, and installations within the compound. This involves supervising security personnel, managing access control, responding to incidents, and reporting all occurrences to the Officer in Charge of Compound Security. The role is crucial for upholding security protocols and ensuring a safe environment for all personnel and assets in Abyei during their assigned shift.
Responsibilities
Supervise and manage security guard teams, ensuring strict control over compound entry and exit points. Verify identification, passes, and authorizations for all personnel, vehicles, and visitors, preventing unauthorized access to restricted areas. Oversee the daily deployment and performance of security guards, conducting regular briefings and assigning duties. Monitor guard attendance, discipline, and conduct, while organizing and supervising patrols. Respond to and investigate suspicious activities, acting as the first point of command during security incidents or emergencies. Prepare and submit timely incident reports, maintain accurate records, and guide staff and visitors during emergencies. Ensure smooth shift handovers, enforce compound rules and SOPs, and safeguard compound property and equipment.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of experience in UN Security Guard Force Management as a Team Leader is required. One year of progressive experience with a local, national, or private police, security, or fire brigade organization, or in a previous operational/administrative role, is considered an advantage.
