Organizational Context
The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) provides benefits to over 90,000 beneficiaries and services more than 130,000 participants across 25 member organizations. The Pension Administration (UNJSPF-PA) comprises approximately 280 staff across four duty stations. This temporary role is within the Data Analysis Unit (DAU) of UNJSPF-PA in New York, reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive of Pension Administration.
Job Purpose
The Chief of the Data Analysis Unit is responsible for planning and directing the unit's work program in statistical analysis and methodology, providing technical and managerial supervision. This includes initiating and directing the preparation of Fund-wide data reports and publications, and leading technical advisory activities. The role supports senior leadership in managing the Fund's data analysis, developing new analytical methods and models, and advising on data trends and their implications. The Chief also manages staff performance, guides data collection and analysis for informed decision-making, and ensures data accessibility for all users within the organization. The position is temporary and based in New York.
Responsibilities
Plan and direct the Data Analysis Unit's work program, including statistical analysis and methodological development, with full technical and managerial supervision. Initiate, plan, and oversee the creation of Fund-wide data reports, publications, and communications. Lead technical advisory activities and support senior management in the Fund's data analysis efforts. Supervise and contribute to the development of new or improved data analysis methods and models. Prepare progress reports and technical documentation for relevant bodies. Advise senior management on data trends, potential impacts of changes, and recommend actions. Manage staff, including work planning, performance evaluation, and fostering team efforts in data collection and analysis for data-driven planning and decision-making. Ensure data accessibility, integration, and sharing across the organization. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in data collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination is required. This includes at least seven years of management and leadership experience. Experience advising senior leadership, supporting business process improvements, and working with public sector or multi-employer pension plans is desirable.
