Organizational Context
The International Trade Centre (ITC) aims to transform trade and change lives by enabling trade-led economic development, particularly in the Global South. This role is within the Women, Youth and Vulnerable Communities (WVYC) section, focusing on gender equality and inclusive economic growth through the SheTrades Initiative. The section strengthens ecosystems for long-term impact and empowers small businesses.
Job Purpose
The Programme Officer, under the supervision of the Head of the Women and Trade Programme, will contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects. This involves monitoring progress, analyzing implementation, identifying issues, and proposing solutions. The role requires liaising with stakeholders, conducting research, and preparing reports and policy recommendations. The officer will also support consultative meetings, conduct outreach activities, lead field missions, and manage budget and funding coordination. The ultimate goal is to facilitate trade-led economic development and empower women entrepreneurs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include participating in the full cycle of programme and project management, from development to evaluation. This involves monitoring implementation, analyzing progress, and identifying challenges, with a focus on proposing corrective actions and liaising with relevant parties. The role entails conducting consulting assignments, including facilitating workshops and developing action plans for clients. Research and analysis of diverse information sources are crucial for policy development and trend analysis. The officer will design data collection tools, interpret findings, and prepare various written outputs such as background papers and reports. Substantive support for meetings, outreach activities, training workshops, and field missions are also integral. Additionally, the role involves coordinating budget and funding activities, including preparation of submissions and progress reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Experience in developing complex partnerships with the private sector, working on women's economic empowerment, and implementing women and trade projects is desirable.
Skills
Professionalism, communication, and client orientation are key competencies. This includes analytical and evaluative skills for research and problem-solving, effective communication, and the ability to build productive partnerships. Experience in data collection and managing conflicting priorities is also important.
