Organizational Context
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), through its Macroeconomic Policy and Financing for Development Division (MPFD) and the Financing for Development Section (FFDS), supports member states in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This role is part of the DA16 project focused on catalyzing finance and investments for climate action and debt sustainability in Asia-Pacific countries.
Job Purpose
This role provides essential support to the FFDS team within UN ESCAP, contributing to the DA16 project aimed at enhancing the capacity of Asia-Pacific countries in mobilizing sustainable finance, investments for climate action, and ensuring debt sustainability. The contractor will assist throughout the lifecycle of capacity-building workshops, offering logistical and programmatic support. Key contributions include developing e-learning content from training materials, coordinating national and regional workshops, and maintaining a consolidated repository of all training resources. The ultimate goal is to strengthen member states' capabilities in financing for development and climate action, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
Provide efficient, timely, and high-quality support to the FFDS team in designing, delivering, and coordinating targeted capacity-building workshops. Assist in organizing specific workshops, such as those for Cambodia's National Sustainable Finance Roadmap and on SPO and Sovereign Sustainability Bond issuance. Support the production of e-learning materials for workshops on sustainability reporting. Offer event coordination and logistical support for regional capacity-building workshops. Contribute to drafting and transforming training materials into e-learning content. Assist in preparing and refining supporting training materials like agendas, slides, and exercises. Maintain a consolidated repository of all training materials, ensuring organization, version control, and accessibility.
Work Experience
Requires at least 1 year of professional or volunteer experience in research, project support, event coordination, or drafting policy/knowledge products. Proficiency with e-learning material creation tools and Microsoft Office applications is essential. Experience organizing international virtual meetings (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom) is also required.
