Organizational Context
The Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) in Geneva seeks a Public Information and Communications Intern. This role is within the Public Information Office, supporting outreach activities and content development for various platforms. The intern will work closely with public information officers, contributing to the mechanism's communication efforts.
Job Purpose
The Public Information and Communications Intern will support the IIMM's Public Information Office in Geneva by contributing to outreach activities and developing engaging content for social media, newsletters, and the official website. This role offers a practical learning experience in communications within an international investigative body. The intern will assist in creating visual materials, drafting written content, facilitating translations, taking meeting notes, and monitoring relevant news to support the mechanism's communication objectives and enhance its public engagement.
Responsibilities
Develop engaging content for social media platforms. Produce visual materials such as videos and infographics. Write clear and concise content for social media, newsletters, and the website. Facilitate the translation of texts by liaising with the translation team to ensure timely delivery. Take accurate notes during relevant meetings, including sessions of the Human Rights Council. Monitor news related to Myanmar and circulate daily press clippings to relevant stakeholders. Report to the Public Information Officer within the Office of the Head of Entity.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, experience in drafting news articles and social media posts in English is desirable. Experience with design software for social media posts and video editing software for creating short videos or animations is also considered an asset.
