Job Purpose
This role's purpose is to provide essential planning and design outputs to support UN-Habitat's technical assistance initiatives in Eswatini. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the Urban Lab team, reporting to the Project Manager. Key contributions include preparing materials to strengthen the drafting of the Eco City Masterplan. This position is home-based for an expected duration of three months, contributing to the development of well-planned, well-governed, and efficient cities and towns.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Project Manager from the Urban Lab, the incumbent will prepare materials to strengthen the drafting of the Eco City Masterplan in Eswatini. This involves contributing planning and design outputs to UN-Habitat's technical support in the region. The role requires close collaboration with the Urban Lab team and coordination with the Head of Sub-Regional Hub, Southern Africa. The position is home-based and expected to last for three months, focusing on advancing urban planning methods and systems to address current urbanization challenges and promote sustainable urban development.
Work Experience
At least two years of proven experience in drawing and preparing graphical plan materials using computer-assisted design tools is required. Experience with data management and processing using GIS software is essential. Good hand-drawing skills for macro-scale plans and strong analytical and design skills in citywide planning are desirable.
