The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the WTO and UN, supports SME internationalization and sustainable development through trade. This role is for the new "Lao PDR Building Opportunities for Sustainable Trade" (BOOST) project, funded by the EU, implemented by ITC in Vientiane, Lao PDR, and managed by ITC's Office for Asia and the Pacific.
Job Purpose
The Project Team Leader will ensure the effective coordination and implementation of the "Lao PDR Building Opportunities for Sustainable Trade" (BOOST) project. This role contributes to fostering inclusive and sustainable growth in Lao PDR by increasing trade between Lao PDR and the EU, attracting EU investment, and aligning business practices with EU environmental and sustainability standards. The purpose is to strengthen public-private coordination, capacitate companies to meet export regulations, and address trade regulation gaps, ultimately contributing to the overall objective of private-sector led growth and an enhanced EU-Lao PDR economic partnership.
Responsibilities
The Project Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the balanced implementation of project outputs, including strengthening public-private coordination, enhancing company capacity for exports, and addressing trade regulation gaps. This involves contributing to strategic direction, overseeing work plans and budgets, and managing results-based management approaches. The role requires supervising data collection and analysis, preparing progress reports, and identifying/mitigating project risks. Key responsibilities also include managing partner and client relationships with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the EU Delegation, representing the project, and coordinating technical assistance activities. The leader will ensure integration of environmental, social, and gender considerations, and support project governance through organizing meetings and following up on decisions.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of experience in result-based project/programme management is required. This includes at least three years in a team leader role, supervising staff and coordinating complex projects. Experience in trade-related technical assistance or business support is also required. Experience with UN/EU agencies and implementing EU projects is desirable.
