Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide practical experience in supporting international conferences and resource mobilization activities within the UN Secretariat, specifically for the United Nations Environment Programme. The intern will assist in the comprehensive preparation and coordination of the 1st International Conference, including documentation, stakeholder engagement, and logistical arrangements. A key aspect of the role involves contributing to resource mobilization efforts by developing materials for prospective donors and engaging with the private sector. Responsibilities
Support the preparation and coordination of the 1st International Conference, including planning meetings, timelines, and follow-up actions. Assist in creating essential documentation such as briefing notes, background materials, participant lists, presentations, and information packages for stakeholders. Engage with stakeholders by maintaining contact lists, drafting outreach messages, and facilitating communication with Member States, UN entities, NGOs, and partners. Provide logistical support for both virtual and in-person meetings, covering scheduling, agenda preparation, note-taking, and technical/administrative execution. Develop communication materials like banners and newsletters for the GFC Secretariat, Fund, and Special Programme. Aid in creating materials for resource mobilization, including pitch decks for donors, and support private sector engagement initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Familiarity with UN processes, procedures, or conference management is considered an asset, as is knowledge of developing resource mobilization materials.
Skills
Excellent organizational, research, and analytical skills. Proficient in drafting and report writing. Good knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams). Fluency in spoken and written English. Familiarity with UN processes, procedures, or conference management is an asset. Knowledge of developing resource mobilization materials is an asset.
