Organizational Context

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), a regional commission of the United Nations headquartered in Santiago, Chile, aims to promote economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean. This role supports the DDP division by ensuring the operational readiness of essential graphic machinery.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure the optimal functioning of industrial graphic machinery, including binders, guillotines, laminators, and folders. This is critical for the timely production of institutional documents and technical publications. By performing regular preventive maintenance and timely repairs, the mechanic directly contributes to the editorial processes and the overall work plan of ECLAC, supporting both regular activities and externally funded projects. The role ensures that production capabilities remain uninterrupted, facilitating the dissemination of important institutional information.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a variety of industrial graphic machinery, including electric and mechanical guillotines, compressors, hot melt binders, perforators, trimmers, industrial stitchers, and thermal laminators. Ensure all graphic machinery is in good working condition to support the production of institutional documents and technical publications. Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations. Respond to repair requests promptly to minimize downtime. Maintain a log of maintenance activities and machine performance. Support the editorial processes by ensuring the reliable operation of equipment necessary for multiple publications.

Work Experience

A minimum of 10 years of experience in graphic machinery mechanics is required. Specific experience is needed in repairing models such as Horizont Binder 270V, Wohlenberg 92 guillotines, Smart 3 Matic Tauler laminators, Aero Cut One folders/cutters, and corner rounding machines.
