Organizational Context
This internship is with the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) Secretariat, within the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. The UNRSF aims to improve road safety globally. The intern will support the fund's operational and outreach activities under the supervision of the Head of UNRSF.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide support to the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) Secretariat in Geneva. The intern will contribute to the effective functioning of the fund by assisting with the Call for Proposals process, including screening and database management. They will also play a role in enhancing the UNRSF's visibility by drafting communications for social media and websites, and by supporting outreach efforts related to the global road safety crisis. Additionally, the intern will assist in event coordination, project management activities, and other tasks as required, gaining valuable experience in international program support and road safety initiatives.
Responsibilities
Support the Call for Proposals process, including screening submissions, managing databases, and compiling information for reports. Draft outreach materials such as social media posts, website content, articles, and briefing notes to increase awareness of road safety issues. Assist in the planning and execution of UNRSF events, campaigns, and projects, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes. Contribute to project management tasks, such as monitoring results and managing project lifecycles. Perform other duties as assigned to support the UNRSF Secretariat's objectives.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required for this internship. However, demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from various sources is strongly desired. A basic understanding of project and document management principles, as well as event facilitation, is also beneficial.
Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information. Basic understanding of project/document management and event facilitation. Attention to detail. Ability to propose effective solutions. Teamwork and collaboration. Planning and organizing skills. Fluency in French or Spanish is desirable.
