Organizational Context
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is seeking an intern for its Programme Protection & Neutrality department at Headquarters in Amman. This role supports the agency's mandate and services, focusing on disability inclusion within the local and regional context. The internship offers a 6-month duration, with flexible full-time or part-time arrangements.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide support to the UNRWA Programme Protection & Neutrality department in Amman, with a specific focus on disability inclusion initiatives. The intern will contribute to research, material development, data collection, and coordination efforts related to accessibility, protection, and humanitarian action for persons with disabilities. This role aims to assist in documenting best practices, preparing for awareness sessions, and supporting administrative tasks, thereby enhancing the agency's capacity to integrate disability inclusion across its operations and services for Palestine refugees.
Responsibilities
The intern will prepare and review tools, checklists, and training materials for disability inclusion. Responsibilities include conducting desk research on disability inclusion, accessibility, protection, and humanitarian action. The role involves assisting in drafting notes, summaries, case studies, and briefing materials. Data collection from departments and field offices, including organizing information in Excel, is a key duty. The intern will also help prepare meeting agendas and minutes, support coordination with UNRWA departments and partners, and document good practices and lessons learned. Additionally, the role includes assisting in preparing materials for workshops and awareness sessions, and supporting administrative tasks related to meetings and field visits.
Work Experience
Some experience in research, writing, reporting, documentation, and proposal preparation is required. The ability to collect and organize information clearly is necessary. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is expected. Experience or a strong interest in disability inclusion, protection, humanitarian work, refugee issues, or social development is desirable.
