Organizational Context

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), established in 1999, serves as the UN system's focal point for coordinating disaster reduction efforts. It ensures synergies among disaster reduction activities of UN and regional organizations. UNDRR guides, monitors, and reports on the Sendai Framework, catalyzing global awareness and action with diverse stakeholders. This role is home-based and reports to the Head, UNDRR Campaigns & Outreach in Geneva.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to maintain and enhance UNDRR's social media presence, ensuring channels are updated with relevant content to drive audience growth and engagement. The Digital Content Producer will implement the content strategy across platforms like Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn, designing campaigns on key issues such as anticipatory action, climate action, and early warnings. This position contributes to increasing global awareness of disaster risk reduction by effectively communicating UNDRR's work and engaging with a broad audience, including Member States, civil society, and the private sector. The role also involves providing editorial support and guidance to regional offices to ensure consistent and impactful digital communication.

Responsibilities

The Digital Content Producer is responsible for implementing the content strategy and managing UNDRR's presence on social media platforms, including Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This involves designing and executing social media campaigns focused on critical areas like anticipatory action, climate action, and early warnings. The role includes developing and maintaining the social media content calendar, writing, editing, and posting content, and monitoring feedback. Additionally, the producer will create or oversee the production of multimedia content, provide editorial support for UNDRR's written products, and offer guidance to regional offices on digital content production. A key responsibility is collecting and analyzing data to generate reports that inform planning and decision-making for outreach, engagement, and growth.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience using graphic and video editing software is required. Experience with Teams, SharePoint, and Drupal is desirable. The role is home-based with an expected duration of 6 months.

Skills

Social media strategy implementation and management, content creation (including multimedia), editorial support and copywriting, data analysis and reporting, graphic and video editing software proficiency, knowledge of Teams, SharePoint, and Drupal (desirable), fluency in English.
